Covid-2019 updates

phoenix 12 February 2020

Dear Friends and Patients of Phoenix Medical

We can confirm a case of 2019 Novel Coronavirus that was seen in Phoenix Medical Group (Seletar)
on 30 January 2020 and 3 February 2020. This is patient #29, as identified by Ministry of Health
(MOH).

He had no record of travel history to mainland China in the past 1 month, nor any contact
history to anyone with a travel history to mainland China.

On 3 February 2020, he appeared quite ill with gastrointestinal and respiratory symptoms, and a
moderate fever, and was thus advised to go the Emergency Department. As he did not fulfil the
MOH criteria for a suspect case, he was not conveyed to hospital via the dedicated ambulance
service.

This suspect case was brought to our attention by MOH on 6 February around midday for active
contact tracing. We were then informed of the news that he had tested positive for the Novel
Coronavirus just before this was made public at around 2130hours on 6 February.

Active contact tracing has begun and all affected patients should have already been contacted by
MOH. Affected patients who do not display any symptoms currently should continue to remain
vigilant and maintain ones’ personal hygiene. Should any affected contact develop symptoms like
fever or respiratory symptoms, they are advised to present to the nearest A&E or NCID immediately.

We will like to assure you that all the rooms, corridors, table tops, seats, examination couches have
been deep cleansed on 6 February 2020 over 3 hours between 1800hours to 2100hours.

A second round of deep cleansing took place on 7 February 2020 by commercially hired cleaners between 1730hours to 1830hours.

Our physician immediately went on leave of absence voluntarily and entered a government quarantine center on the
7 February 2020 where he will remain till the 17th February 2020 (which is 14
days post contact). He is well at the time of this communiqué.

We would like to assure members of the public, patients and well-meaning family and friends that
we will remain vigilant against the scourge of the Novel Coronavirus and continue our fight against
it.

Thank you

Dr Chua Hshan Cher / Dr Lee Kai Lun / Dr Angela Foong
